Chuck Hagel (J. Scott Applewhite, The Associated Press)

The Senate voted Tuesday to confirm Chuck Hagel to lead the Department of Defense as secretary, The Associated Press reports.

Four Republicans sided with Democrats in the 58-41 vote.
